Frontier Financial's Loss Reported in Seattle Times

The Seattle Times reported Frontier Financial's quarterly losses of $33.9 million in their January 29, 2010 issue. Shrinking capital ratios have also left the bank significantly undercapitalized. Despite the negative news, there were signs of cautious optimism. Delinquent loans fell for the first time in more than a year and nonperforming assets also fell. Frontier's shareholders also approved the issuance of up to 200 million shares last week, which could help with any recapitalization deal.
